Here are all the Agriculture Education classes we currently offer at Wakefield High School. 

Animal Sciences
Animal 1, Animal 2 Small Animal, Animal 2 Large Animal, and Veterinary Assisting

Students in Animal Science I learn a wide range of topics on animals including reproduction, husbandry, nutrition, etc. They also give supervised care to our animals on campus. In Animal Science II, students have the option of focusing on either small or large animals, taking on more independent projects.  In Veterinary Assisting, students are able to complete an internship at a local veterinary office.

Horticulture 1 & 2

Horticulture I & II focus on plant care and identification. Students take a change of pace, working outside both in our greenhouse and in our various gardens. Horticulture II allows students to further their knowledge and pursue more independent projects, such as their Ag Symposium presentation.

Sustainable Agriculture 1 & 2

Sustainable Agriculture combines both Horticulture and Animal Science, where students discover and utilize innovative practices used within agriculture. This is the class that answers questions like, what is sustainability and why is it important?
