FFA Degrees and Awards

Picture
There are all kinds of awards that you can achieve as a member of the FFA at WHS.
The first is the Greenhand Degree.  To earn your Greenhand, you must be a member of the FFA for that year and enrolled in an Agricultural Education class.  In addition, you must have completed everything on the Greenhand Degree application below.  If you do this, then you will be awarded your Greenhand Degree and a Greenhand pin at the End of Year Banquet in May.

Likewise, the Chapter Degree is received after you have earned your Greenhand Degree.  You must have been enrolled in another Agricultural Education course and satisfactorily completed all of the requirements as outlined by the Chapter Degree application.  If you have done this, then you will be awarded your next pin, which is a silver Chapter Degree pin, in May at the End of Year Banquet.

The State Degree is the highest honor that any student at WHS has earned.  This requires several years of work in the FFA and in a number of Agricultural Edcucation courses.  If you fulfill the requirements outlined in the application below then you will receive a gold State Degree pin at the NC State FFA Convention in Raleigh in June.  This is a high honor and one you should be extremely proud of.

If you are wanting some bling at graduation and are hoping to be weighed down by cords and sashes as you walk across the stage, then FFA can help.  The WHS FFA wants to give you a cord at your final WHS FFA End of Year Banquet before graduation.  It's easy to earn one, too.  You need to be an active member of the FFA for at least two years.  To be considered "active" in the WHS FFA see the application below.

Finally, as a senior, you have the opportunity to earn $500 cash just for being a FFA member.  Check out the FFA Alumni page and see the Wakefield High School FFA Alumni Scholarship.  There you will find all sorts of great information about the FFA Alumni scholarships that are granted every year at the End of Year Banquet in May.
