SAE and The AET Tracker

SAE

SAE is also known as Supervised Agricultural Experience.  Students design a project outside of class that involves agriculture or the natural resources.  Students can do anything they want.  Different classes have different hour requirements.  Each course focuses on various types of SAE's.

SAE Project Types
Students can create their project around the following types:
Entrepreneurship- You're your own boss.  You should make money.
Placement (Internship)- Working for the man.  Someone else is your boss.  You can make $ or volunteer.
Analytical- This is research.  Choose something that you want to learn about in agriculture or natural resources and then make a product to show your research efforts.
Experimental- This is a typical science experiment utilizing the scientific method.

There is a supplemental type of SAE's.  This can accompany one of the four listed above or you can do exploratory which is a combination of trying many things.
Exploratory-
  • Visit someplace or watch something.  This could be going to a farm, museum, or job shadowing.  It also can include reading or even watching a television program.
  •  Learn a new skill.  This takes eight hours or less to learn the basics.  For example: go out and learn how to fly fish.
  •  Make something better.  Plant a garden, clean out a shed, paint a tractor.  Sky is the limit.
